with our COLLAPSIBLE TRAILER HITCH KITS
Our hitch kits were developed to provide the next level of detail and realism to N and HO scale inter-modal equipment. As far as we know, these are the only trailer hitches in N or HO scale that can actually be raised and collapsed! While the hitches are fine scale, they are quite rugged and will withstand regular reconfiguration if handled with reasonable care.
The N-01 & H-01 series kits work on TOFC and spine cars. These hitches have two raised positions; vertical for TOFC service and semi-reclined for spine car service.
The N-02 & H-02 series kits work on 48, 53 & 57' spine cars, but only on the spine end of a 57' spine car (not quite tall enough for the wheel tray end). Watch for our upcoming N-57 series kits, which will contain a new hitch specifically intended for use on the wheel tray end of N scale 57' spine cars.
The H-57 series kits are out and are specifically intended for 57' spine cars in HO scale. They contain (6) hitch kits per pack. There are also two versions of this kit available:
H-57-A has (3) H-01 kits and (3) all-new H-03 kits.
H-57-B has (3) H-02 kits and (3) all-new H-03 kits.
Announcement....
We will be offering our N-03 and H-03 kits in 3 packs and 5 packs to go with the HO scale, RTR, 3 unit and 5 unit 53' spine cars by Bowser and the N scale, RTR, 3 unit and 5 unit 53' spine cars that have been announced by BLMA.
All MLE hitch kits are supplied as flat metal etchings that the modeler will need to fold, assemble and paint. Once assembled and mounted on a railcar, these hitches can be raised and collapsed. Hitches will lock securely in upright position and will support typical N and HO scale highway trailers. Two 5th wheel top plates are included with each kit; one that will accommodate most kingpins on N and HO scale trailers and another that looks more prototypical. Decals not included but some hitch decals are available on Microscale sheet 60/87-822. Some modeling skills required and prior experience with etchings is recommended. Railcar may require modification for hitch base to sit flat and level.
ASSEMBLY JIG FOR THE N-01 SERIES HITCH KITS
We have developed an assembly jig to aid in the assembly of the N-01 series hitch kit. This jig helps to align parts so that the hinge pin wire can be inserted more easily at the point where the 5th wheel joins with the main supports. Product #N-01J.

We are pleased to announce that our very first locomotive detail part, a 3 pane all-weather window, is now available in kit form in both N & HO scale. These kits are supplied as flat metal etchings that the modeler will need to fold and paint (if desired). There are (3) window frames per kit with two win-dows orientated one way and one the other way. Window glazing is not included. We recommend a thin, clear acetate for the large windows and Micro Kristal Klear (or similar)for the small end windows.
